Hello from Belfast
My name is Lonnie. I am an American living in Belfast for the past 3 years. My wife is a local so, I am here to stay.
I am an artist suffering from lack of board game stimulation.
Big Lovecraft fan. Would like to play Arkham Horror.
My main interest would be horror gaming with some sci fi thrown in...as in Twilight Imperium. I like galactic empire games and space battles.
Also, I love zombies...mainly Romero's films, so zombie games are a go, as well.
However, each of these items requires a major (for me) investment. So, I would like to know if I have a potential to
play such before buying. Would like to hear from anyone interested in such games as mentioned here.
Happy to make your acquaintance, and to discover that AGC exists.
Cheers All.

Re: Hello from Belfast
Welcome to the boards, you must get to Arkham to really appreciate the mix of gamers it has attracted, Wednesday nights tend to be the busiest, with last Wednesday seeing Mansions of Madness being played, which looks excellent (I didn't get to play but wish I had.) and from what you have posted would suit your tastes.
Hope to see you soon.

Hey Lonnie, thanks for signing up to the forum. I do believe Arkham is just the place you're looking for
The variety of games played here, and the willingness of the members to try different things means you'll find plenty to re-ignite your gaming passions
Wednesday nights are the busiest nights, and certainly initially, the best night to meet the core gamers at Arkham. You'll find it a friendly and welcoming environment. Check the 'gaming days & nights' area of the forum. Each night or day we're open has a seperate discussion topic so you can arrange games in advance with the guys

Re: Hello from Belfast
Just as an aside, your forum name intrigues me. Are you refering to the Dunwich that is now Britains Atlantis? (Which is reported to have had 50 churches in medieval times.) Or something else?

Re: Hello from Belfast
Given the Lovecraft reference, i'd guess this??;

Dunwich, as in The Horror
Thanks for the welcome fellas.
For sure, would like to come in for a Wed. session to make acquaintances.
I know of Mansions of Madness, I think it would suit me just fine.
Oh, the post name refers to The Dunwich Horror. I read all of Lovecraft when I was a kid and
its still with me...big influence with my work. Hey, but I knew of the local reference too. I was happy
to know there was a Dunwich here too. Didn't know about all the churches...hmmmmm. That would
be a cool story. So, many churches...to keep the Dark out.
I understand there is going to be a Godzilla game released in April this year. Yea, I am a big Kaiju fan. Anime, too.
Honor Harrington, too, if anyone knows who that is. Military SF.

Re: Hello from Belfast
well its only right that I cthulhubruce, should also welcome you to Arkham :-)
aside from being one of several Call of Cthulhu RPG, GM's im also a big fan of the Arkham Horror, Gary will be delighted to have someone such as yourself on board as he is a MAJOR fan of it and a growing fan of Mansions of Maddness. Gary and i also play the CoC living card game, which is interesting to say the least.
aside from the core nights, gary and i would get together as often as we can for a few games of CoC LCG or even Arkham Horror. theres so much goes on at times at arkham its hard to fit everything in, but by all means get down of a wedensday meet the boys and see what we can get going. A little Cthulhu cult would be great fun!!
welcome on board

Re: Hello from Belfast
Hi Lonnie,
Welcome to Arkham.
I go up on Wednesdays as it is a good night for gaming. Good crowd and a good mix.
I'm trying to encourage Lord of the Rings at the moment.
Roleplaying the Morrow Project every other Friday night as well.
Funnily enough I love the Romero zombie movies (well discounting Land of the Dead lol) but I have never actually gamed them.
Lots of 1920s CoC when I was younger and even some medieval undead.
If I ever get around to it i might resurrect and old CoC adventure from White Dwarf called Ancient and Modern.
I live in Belfast too (near Forestside) so if you need a lift or want to car pool occasionally then let me know. Happy to give you a lift. There are some others from Belfast as well so getting a lift is usually easy enough.
Welcome and enjoy.
