[MTG] BOOSTER DRAFT TRIAL Empty [MTG] BOOSTER DRAFT TRIAL

Okay really just a question for now, but looking to see out of our new MTG wave, who thinks they might be up for a Booster Drfat Night in May, by then we will have had a month of Ladder Games and hopefully a good run at building decks and playing games to start to refine our talents.

booster Drafts are obviously very different. the magic number of players is 8, though you can do 6,8,10. we may well be in a position to do two groups of 6 or even two of 8 the way we are going.

in general, you buyinto the match. that gets each player 3 boosters from across the current range. 3 boosters each. normally one of each of the three most current waves.

everyone opens their fisrt booster. picks a card then passes to the left. each time you pick a card from the handfull passed to you. once all cards are gone, you open the second booster each and repeat the process, but you pass to the right this time, then back gain the next time.

at the end you then make up a deck of at least 40 cards from the 42ish you will have picked.

oh all land and token cards are removed before you pick a card and pass them on.

the only thing im not clear on is land, from everything ive read you add as much land as is needed to make the deck work - so possibly there is access to more land than would be from the boosters.

you can have a sideboard of the cards you do not use, which you chan change between games/rounds. but you are supposed to reset the deck to your origonal build for the first round in each match.

you get to keep the cards you draw, and there is normally a prize.

would need to chat to phil if the interest is there, but the normal buy in for a night like this is about 15 quid apx

if your interested the 6-10 person group on a draft night is called a POD!

so any thoughts, i know its early to ask but would need a wee bit of planning and time for people to decide too.

cool 3 more and this can be set up , but 5 more should make it interesting. im scouring every detail on said drafts that i can get. Jamie hasnt done one in a while so is a bit sketchy on the details, but im almost there.

Depends on when, though I don't expect you to fit it around me. This Wednesday would be good.

I'd be quite interested, how often would it be running? I'm guessing it'd be a monthly thing?

well do one see how it goes, maybe once a month? or look at a range of different events?

id be in for this too,
sounds like a good laugh.

But sounds like you would end up with a really random deck.

I think you missed the selection bit, you open a booster and pick one card then pass the remainder on. That means you get some control over your deck as you are picking cards from all boosters.

Yeah i got that bit.

But you still need to make a decision based on the colours you want.
Which would be a risk if anyone else wants them too.
After 3pack x 8 people you would end up with alot of choice i suppose.

More people the better i suppose.

Multicoloured decks would be the way to go rather than trying to stick with a mono deck.
