I bought the Ariadna and Pan Oceanic boxes, thinking sticking with the Ariadna and some Highlanders running around with Claymores

Kwi you took the ones I wanted!

I ordered Ariadna starter set off Phil, looking forward to getting started tho I am more looking to do some hawt girls in tartan as opposed to dudes with claymores. Says pretty lame when I put it like that actually but c'est la vie!. Another thing for the project pile...

how tight are the rules on the figures used? i ask simply as i like the background but find myself a little cold over the figures - personal taste only. when i looked at the figures the guys brought on wedensday i found that while i liked several they where across the board not any one faction.

i think its the panoceanie? that caught my imagination a little but again not all the models, so is there scope to coopt figs from other ranges?

dont all shoot me at once!

Of course you can use other ranges figs, peferably an 'Heroic' scale range so your wee men are slightly bigger so we can draw LoS easier Twisted Evil

You could always run a mercenary faction and use any of the models you want from other factions.

You can use almost any lists but your troop availability is 1/2'd and if a troop is ava 1 you can only get one for every 200pts IIRC. Cant remember if your SWC is affected though. Armylists and rules can be downloaded for free from Infinity.

There is a straight up faction called mercenaries, basically units that dont belong to any faction.
You can build a standard faction then add one of these mercenaries to it, like most skirmish games.

But you can also elect to create a mercenary force with any troops you like (up to three different factions), except that the availability is halved. And unique characters that have availability one can only be picked for every 200pts in the army.

excluding the combined army, they cant have mercenaries or be mercenaries.

all other rules i think are the same.

Have to get them built first, though I am very impressed with the quality of the minatures. Not too many mould lines but a quite a lot of pieces for such small models. Thus alot of vents. On a side note where do you get the orders markers the guys were using for the demo? I'll make some of the counters up for us to use.

Just had my first game with mike, loved it, I was lukewarm towards the whole thing but the rules, while mike says they arent very tight, seem to represent an accurate simulation and it seems very intuitive and its a lot of fun. Looking forward to getting my ariadna and getting some games in.

Going to grab the Aleph starter set at the end of the month and work it from there! I'm not really clued into specific rules (beyond the tutorial vids), but the minis in this faction have a real Ghost in the Shell look to them. Works for me at least.
